Namma Swachha Adakmaranahalli
1st Village-Level Stakeholder Meeting at Makali
On 7th June 2026, the first Village-Level Stakeholder Meeting was conducted at Makali to introduce the Household Dustbin Distribution initiative and promote waste segregation practices. The session focused on educating residents about proper waste management and encouraging community participation in maintaining cleanliness. A total of 31 community members attended the meeting, marking a positive beginning to the implementation of the initiative.
3rd Himalaya Volunteering Activity
On 20th June 2026, the third Himalaya Volunteering Activity was organized in Makali to support the Household Dustbin Distribution drive. During the activity, 60 households were surveyed, and awareness was created on the importance of waste segregation and responsible waste disposal. The initiative was strengthened by the participation of 10 volunteers from the Himalaya Wellness campus, whose support contributed to the successful execution of the drive.
Himalaya Stretch Cleaning
The Himalaya Stretch Cleaning initiative continued throughout June 2026 as an ongoing effort to maintain cleanliness around the Himalaya Wellness campus. The designated stretches were regularly cleaned to improve the surrounding environment and reinforce the importance of maintaining clean public spaces through consistent sanitation efforts.
Household Dustbin Distribution Across Three Villages
The Household Dustbin Distribution programme continued across the three villages under the Gram Panchayat throughout June 2026. Household surveys were carried out in Adakamaranahalli (787 households), Makali (555 households), and Harokyathanahalli (608 households). As part of the initiative, a total of 1,950 households received dustbins, significantly strengthening waste segregation practices and promoting better solid waste management across the villages.
Namma Swachha Adugodi (NSA)
Under the Namma Swachha Adugodi (NSA) initiative, Let’s Be The Change, and Saahas continued working towards building stronger, cleaner, and more responsible communities through a blend of awareness sessions, on-ground action, and behavioural change programs across the Adugodi area.
This month’s key activities included:
Throughout June 2026, regular audits, follow-up visits, and route monitoring activities continued across the older project blocks under the Namma Swachha Adugodi (NSA) initiative. These visits helped assess the effectiveness of waste collection services, monitor segregation practices, and address operational challenges. The continuous monitoring ensured that sanitation services were maintained efficiently while strengthening community participation in responsible waste management.
Survey (Numbering & Stickering) block 14th & 9th block
Survey, household numbering, and dustbin stickering activities were successfully completed across the newly added project areas during June 2026, laying the foundation for the effective implementation of door-to-door waste management services. By the end of the month, the exercise covered 476 households in the 8th Block, 665 households in the 9th Block, and 502 households in the 14th Block, ensuring that every household was mapped and prepared for the upcoming dustbin distribution and waste segregation initiative.
KPMG Field Audit
On 16 June 2026, a field audit was conducted by KPMG to assess the impact of the Namma Swachha Adugodi project. The audit focused on understanding residents' feedback, behavioural changes, and community participation resulting from the project's interventions. The findings will help evaluate the effectiveness of Year 2 activities and guide future improvements in waste management practices.
World Environment Day Awareness Rally
On 5 June 2026, Let's Be The Change (LBTC), in collaboration with Saahas and BBMP, organized an awareness rally across the 6th and 7th Blocks to mark World Environment Day. The rally also marked the launch of the Namma Swachha Adugodi initiative in the Year 3 project blocks and promoted awareness about Swachh Survekshan 2026–27. Residents were encouraged to avoid single-use plastics, maintain clean surroundings, and adopt responsible waste management practices.
Waste Weighing for Per Capita Waste Estimation
From 29 June to 6 July 2026, a waste-weighing exercise was conducted in the 8th and 14th Blocks to estimate per capita waste generation. Twenty households from each block were randomly selected and requested to hand over their wet and dry waste daily for seven consecutive days. The collected data will help estimate average household waste generation and support future planning for solid waste management services.
Household Dustbin Distribution – 8th Block
As part of the expansion of the Namma Swachha Adugodi (NSA) initiative, household dustbin distribution was carried out in the 8th Block during the last week of June 2026. The activity aimed to equip households with the necessary resources for source segregation of waste while promoting responsible waste management practices. The distribution marked an important milestone in strengthening door-to-door waste segregation and encouraging greater community participation in maintaining a cleaner and more sustainable neighbourhood.
Waste Audit
A continued detailed waste audit was carried out to assess the quality of segregation and identify gaps in collection practices.

Gardening Workshop at Dairy Colony Government School
On 15th June 2026, a Gardening Workshop was conducted at Dairy Colony Government School in collaboration with Vasuki Sir. The workshop introduced students to the importance of gardening, environmental stewardship, and sustainable practices. Through interactive demonstrations and hands-on learning, students were encouraged to develop a deeper appreciation for green spaces and their role in creating a healthier environment.
Composting Workshop at Police Quarters Government School
On 19th June 2026, a Composting Workshop was organized at Police Quarters Government School in collaboration with Vasuki Sir. The session focused on the benefits of composting organic waste and demonstrated simple techniques for converting kitchen and garden waste into nutrient-rich compost. The workshop encouraged students to adopt sustainable waste management practices and understand the value of reducing waste through composting.
Rainwater Harvesting System Installation
As part of the Green Education initiative, the installation of a Rainwater Harvesting System commenced at Dairy Colony Government School during the last week of June 2026. The project aims to promote water conservation by enabling the school to collect and utilize rainwater, while also serving as a practical learning resource to educate students about sustainable water management practices.
Solar Power System Installation
The installation of a Solar Power System at Dairy Colony Government School also began during the last week of June 2026. Once completed, the system will provide a clean and renewable source of energy for the school while creating opportunities for students to learn about renewable energy technologies and the importance of adopting sustainable solutions for the future.
Namma Swaccha Madiwala
Daily Cleaning and Sanitation Operations
Throughout June 2026, regular sweeping, street cleaning, and dustbin maintenance continued across the Madiwala Market area. A dedicated team of three sweepers and one supervisor carried out daily cleaning activities to ensure the streets remained clean and public dustbins were regularly cleared. In addition, two BBMP sweepers supported the initiative by conducting routine cleaning from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The BBMP team also assisted in waste segregation and clearing dustbins, while the designated contractor ensured the regular collection and disposal of waste.
Core Team Meeting
A core team meeting was held on 19 June 2026 to review the progress of the initiative and discuss the challenges affecting market cleanliness. During the meeting, it was decided that flower vendors would be requested to vacate the marketplace by 8:00 AM each day to enable timely cleaning. It was also agreed that Ex-Corporator Mr. Manjunath would communicate this decision to the vendors and their union to encourage better cooperation. The future course of the initiative would be based on the response received from the stakeholders.
Meeting with Ex-Corporator
On 20 June 2026, a meeting was held with Ex-Corporator Mr. Manjunath to address the issues of delayed vendor clearance and littering in and around the flower market. During the discussion, he agreed to convene a community meeting with the flower vendors to emphasize the importance of vacating the marketplace by 8:00 AM and maintaining cleanliness. The agreed action plan was also to be communicated to the BBMP officials, including the JHI, Marshals, AGM, and the Madiwala Police Station. It was decided that vendors who failed to comply with the guidelines would be subject to appropriate penalties.
Environmental Awareness Session at Bommandahalli
On 13th June 2026, an Environmental Awareness Session was conducted for the residents of Bommandahalli to promote sustainable living and responsible waste management practices. The session focused on the importance of protecting the environment, reducing pollution, and adopting eco-friendly habits in everyday life. Residents were also educated on proper waste segregation, responsible waste disposal, and the collective role of communities in creating cleaner and healthier neighbourhoods. The interactive session encouraged participants to actively contribute towards environmental conservation through simple yet impactful actions.
Pourakarmika Upskilling Session
On 24 June, our team conducted a Pourakarmika Capacity Building and Upskilling Session in Bagepalli. The session provided an opportunity to interact closely with the pourakarmikas, understand the challenges they face in their day-to-day work, and discuss practical solutions to improve their working conditions and efficiency.
Through open discussions, the team gained valuable insights into their experiences, operational difficulties, and support requirements. The session also focused on strengthening awareness of best waste management practices, promoting safe working methods, and encouraging knowledge sharing among the participants. The interaction fostered mutual learning, built stronger community relationships, and reaffirmed the importance of empowering frontline sanitation workers through continuous engagement and capacity-building initiatives.
Upcycling Sessions
As part of our sustainability outreach initiatives, our team conducted Corporate Upcycling Sessions at Western Digital on 6th June and Amagi on 30th June. These interactive sessions focused on creating awareness about the importance of solid waste management, responsible waste segregation, and sustainable everyday practices.
Participants were introduced to the concept of upcycling and its role in reducing waste and promoting a circular economy. As a hands-on activity, employees learned how to transform old T-shirts into reusable tote bags, demonstrating how discarded materials can be repurposed into practical everyday products. The sessions encouraged participants to adopt sustainable habits and showcased simple, creative ways to minimize waste through reuse and upcycling.

Did You Know?
Bengaluru is making garbage trucks accountable through GPS. In June, the Greater Bengaluru Authority announced that garbage collection vehicles without GPS tracking will not be eligible for payment. This move is aimed at ensuring collection vehicles follow their assigned routes, reducing missed pickups, improving transparency, and strengthening accountability in the city's waste management system. It's a significant step towards using technology to make solid waste management more efficient and reliable.
Garbage isn't collected only in the morning anymore. During June, the Greater Bengaluru Authority began exploring evening waste collection in garbage-prone areas using additional auto tippers. The initiative is designed to prevent waste from piling up throughout the day and to eliminate chronic garbage black spots across the city.
BBMP is increasingly using digital technology to improve Bengaluru's waste management system. Through the STARAM monitoring platform, sanitation workers, supervisors, and waste collection vehicles can be digitally tracked, enabling real-time monitoring of attendance, route completion, and waste collection activities. Such technology-driven initiatives are helping make solid waste management more transparent, accountable, and efficient across the city.
