HIGHLIGHT OF THE MONTH

New Year, New Beginnings:

Koramangala Women Join the Upcycling Movement!

Project Repurpose - OSB India:

What started as a small initiative in Mestri Palya is now making waves across communities! Seeing the enthusiasm and success in LR Nagar and Mestripalya, the women of Koramangala 4th Block have now stepped forward, eager to learn the art of upcycling textile waste. It's inspiring to see this movement grow organically, empowering more women with skills that turn waste into valuable products.

Through Project Repurpose, these talented women are crafting high-quality jeans pouches, tote bags, and travel pouches - beautiful, functional, and sustainable. If you'd like to support this initiative and purchase any of these handmade products, reach out to us at 93532 18818!

The growing interest in upcycling motivates us to expand the Repurpose Initiative even further in the coming year. We’re excited to empower more communities, foster sustainable livelihoods, and create a lasting impact—together!

Transforming Schools Through Veeraru Engagement – Esper:

As part of our mission to build a strong Eco Club at Konanakunte Government School, we are training 21 students to become core members and environmental champions in their school.

Last month, the students learned about waste segregation, upcycling old t-shirts into bags, and hands-on composting. This month, they took their learning a step further by conducting school-wide surveys. Divided into teams, they explored key topics such as waste management, water conservation, electricity usage, and food waste, gathering insights to help improve sustainability within their school.

To provide them with real-world exposure, we also organized a field trip to the Yediyur Wet Waste Processing Unit (Bio-Methanization Plant) and the Dry Waste Collection Center. This gave them firsthand experience in how waste is managed on a larger scale, reinforcing the importance of responsible waste disposal and sustainable practices.

We are thrilled to see these young eco-warriors actively engaging in environmental action, and we look forward to their continued growth as changemakers in their community!

Namma Swachha Adugodi (NSA) – Bosch:

SWM in the Community

Following last month’s stakeholder meeting, the NSA project is now in full swing! This month, we focused on community engagement, beginning with a door-to-door survey to understand waste practices. As part of this effort, we numbered houses, distributed pamphlets and brochures, and provided essential IEC materials to raise awareness.

Next month, we will take a deeper dive into tracking waste behavior through daily waste audits, bringing us one step closer to a cleaner, more sustainable Adugodi!

Erudition Time:

Are paper plates really a paper-based product?

Not always! Many paper plates are coated with plastic (polyethylene) or wax to make them resistant to grease and moisture. While the base material is paper, these coatings make them non-biodegradable and non-compostable

How often do you use paper plates?

  • I don't use it

  • Very rarely

  • Most of the time

  • Only while traveling
