National Youth Award 2022: A Tribute to Every Volunteer and Supporter:

The National Youth Award, instituted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, recognizes exceptional contributions by young individuals and organizations in the field of social service and national development. This prestigious award aims to inspire active citizenship and excellence across diverse areas such as health, innovation, culture, human rights, education, and community service — empowering youth to become responsible and impactful citizens.

We, the team at, are immensely proud to share that we have been honored with the National Youth Award for the year 2022. We are especially thrilled to be the only team to receive this prestigious award, which recognizes our dedicated efforts and impactful contributions in Solid Waste Management (SWM) and sustainable waste practices in Bangalore.

This recognition is a reflection of the hard work, passion, and commitment of every volunteer, supporter, and changemaker who has been a part of our journey.

Thank you for believing in us — let’s continue to be the change!

Plogrun with Himalaya Wellness

On 19th April, we conducted a successful Plog run at DVG Road in Gandhi Bazaar in collaboration with the Himalaya Wellness team. The event saw enthusiastic participation, with around 50 volunteers — 20 from Himalaya and 30 from BBMP and our volunteers.

In just one hour, the team managed to collect an impressive 145 kilograms of waste. During the activity, many participants highlighted the importance of source segregation, emphasizing how crucial it is for efficient waste management.

They observed a significant amount of gutkha sachets, cigarette butts, and other non-biodegradable waste littering the streets. Many participants expressed concern over this and stressed the need to spread awareness about responsible waste disposal and the importance of separating dry, wet and the reject waste at the source

Closing Chapters, Lasting Impact: OSB & ESPER Projects Conclude

We’re proud to share that both the OSB and ESPER projects have successfully come to a close, marking meaningful milestones in our sustainability journey.

The project  which we partnered up with OSB INDIA focused on empowering women by training them to create upcycled products. We supported them by organizing stalls, promoting their work, and helping them adopt sustainable practices. While the project has concluded, the products made by these women are still available for purchase on our website, continuing to support their efforts.

The ESPER project, part of the Veeraru course, involved working with a school in Konanakunte, where we educated children on sustainable living and implemented infrastructural improvements within the school. The project has now ended, but we’re confident that the impact — both in terms of education and infrastructure — will have a lasting, positive effect.

We’re truly grateful for the journey and hope the outcomes feel as fruitful and inspiring to you as they do to us.

Namma Swachha Adugodi (NSA) – Bosch:

Last year, we launched the NAMMA SACHA ADUGODI(NSA) project in collaboration with SAHAAS and BOSCH, initially covering 3 out of 14 blocks. Of these, 1 block was managed by our team and 2 blocks by SAAHAS.

We are now expanding the project to cover a total of 6 additional blocks — 3 blocks each for LBTC and SAAHAS each. For LBTC, the expansion includes our original block plus 3 new blocks in the Rajendra Nagar area, which comprises approximately 6,000 households. SAHAAS will be managing the other 3 blocks, 2 in the Police Quarters and 1 in the Koramangala Corporation Bank, which comprises approximately 3000 households.

This expansion marks a significant step forward in our mission to promote sustainable waste management and cleaner communities

Volunteering Activity with BOSCH

On 25th April, we conducted a special volunteering activity in collaboration with BOSCH, where we were joined by 10 enthusiastic employees from the organization. Together, we were able to survey over 220 households as part of our regular door-to-door awareness and waste management survey. The participation of BOSCH volunteers significantly boosted our reach, allowing us to cover more households than usual within our designated block.

Veeraru (Green Education):

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our Veeraru course as part of the NAMMA SWACHA ADUGODI (NSA) project, starting this June! This initiative will be rolled out in two adopted schools:

Police Quarters Government School

Dairy Colony School

The course aims to educate students on sustainability and responsible waste management through engaging content.

Stories of Change:

An extension of the Veeraru course.

This is a platform to feature inspiring individuals who have embraced and led sustainable lifestyles. Whether they’ve been living sustainably for years or have transformed their habits recently, we want to share their journeys.

If you know someone with such a story, please reach out — they could be featured in our upcoming Stories of Change!

Domlur Government School Transformation - Arrow Electronics:

The Domlur School Project is an initiative we’ve taken up in collaboration with Arrow Electronics . We've been working on this project for over a year now. The school itself is housed in a building that dates back to 1938. Last year, we focused on essential repairs — we made the building rainproof, fixed damaged windows, carried out major infrastructure upgrades, and added computers to improve learning conditions.

This year, we turned our attention to another building on the school premises that was beyond repair. Since it couldn't be revived, we’ve started demolishing it and are now in the process of constructing an entirely new building with six classrooms.

The construction of the building is in process, with the ground and first floors already finished and second floor block work completed. The entire structure is expected to be completed by June.

We are currently in the process of consulting for interior planning, and the procurement of furniture is underway to ensure the space is fully equipped and functional upon completion.

Erudition Time:

Why Wet Waste Should Stay Wet (and Separate!)

Did you know? Over 60% of household waste is actually compostable wet waste — like fruit peels, veggie scraps, and leftover food. But when it gets mixed with plastic or sanitary waste, it turns toxic in landfills, releasing harmful methane gas.

Pro Tip: Keep a small bin in your kitchen just for wet waste. Empty it into a compost pit, use a home composter, or hand it over to your municipality’s organic waste collector.

When you separate wet waste, you're not just reducing landfill burden — you're giving back to the soil and cutting greenhouse gas emissions.

One small habit. Massive impact. ♻️

How do you currently manage your kitchen waste at home?

  • I separate wet and dry waste every day

  • I try, but sometimes it gets mixed

  • I didn’t know wet waste could be composted

  • I’m now inspired to start segregating!
