February 2026

HIGHLIGHT OF THE MONTH

Namma Swachha Adakamaranahalli

– Building a Cleaner Future, One Village at a Time

Namma Swachha Adakmaranahalli

We are excited to commence a new initiative titled “Namma Swachha Adakamaranahalli" aimed at strengthening sustainable waste management practices at the village level. The Adakamaranahalli Gram Panchayat consists of three villages—Adakamaranahalli, Makali, and Harokyatanahalli. Notably, Makali is home to the manufacturing unit of Himalaya Wellness Company.

This initiative is planned as a six-month project, beginning in March, with February considered as the “Zero Month” for preparatory activities, baseline assessments, and groundwork before the full rollout. The project will officially commence on March 14th, following initial coordination with local stakeholders and the completion of preparatory activities.

During February, the groundwork for the project was carried out. The focus of this phase was on understanding the local waste management scenario, identifying stakeholders, planning operational systems, and preparing the infrastructure required for implementation in the coming months.

Namma Swachha Adugodi (NSA)

Under the Namma Swachha Adugodi (NSA) initiative, Let’s Be The Change and Saahas continued working towards building stronger, cleaner, and more responsible communities through a blend of awareness sessions, on-ground action, and behaviour change programs across the Adugodi area.

This month’s key activities included:

  • Community Awareness Rally

On 13th February, we organized a community rally to raise awareness about the importance of waste segregation. Volunteers walked through the neighbourhood shouting slogans that encouraged residents to segregate their waste responsibly. Children from the community actively participated in the rally, helping spread the message and engaging with residents. The activity created enthusiasm among the locals and helped educate the community about proper waste management practices.

  • Wall Painting Activity at Police Quarters

On 16th February, our team carried out a wall painting activity at the Police Quarters. Around five volunteers actively participated in the initiative, contributing their time and creativity to transform the wall with meaningful artwork promoting environmental awareness. The activity helped beautify the space while spreading messages about responsible waste management and community cleanliness. The effort also encouraged collaboration among volunteers and highlighted the importance of creative approaches in spreading social awareness.

  • Exploration Visit Across Karnataka

As part of our learning and exposure program, our team visited Mulki, Puttur, and Beltangadi in Karnataka from 19th Feb to 21st Feb to understand how different communities are managing waste and adopting sustainable practices. During the visit, we interacted with the Dry Waste Collection Center (DWCC) team and Panchayat officials, observed an RRR (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) Center at a Government School, and toured biomethane plants to learn how organic waste is converted into useful energy. We also gained insights into legacy waste management, where processed waste is sent to cement factories as alternative fuel. At the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) in Beltangadi, we saw how waste is segregated and prepared for recycling, along with creative installations like lion and tiger statues made from recycled materials, showcasing innovative ways of turning waste into awareness and art.

  • School Awareness and Swachh Survekshan Activities

On 25th February, our team visited a Government Urdu School along with Marshall, JHI, and other team members. During this visit, we conducted an awareness session for students and staff, helping them understand the importance of waste segregation and responsible waste management practices.

On the same day in the morning, we also visited a Government School in Koramangala where we participated in activities related to Swachh Survekshan in collaboration with BBMP. During the session, students and staff were guided on proper waste segregation practices and how communities can contribute to maintaining cleanliness and sustainability.

On 26th February, we continued our participation in the Swachh Survekshan initiative along with BBMP by conducting activities in Rajendra Nagar. The team organized a community rally where volunteers spread awareness about cleanliness and waste segregation. Residents were encouraged to adopt better waste management practices, reinforcing the message of maintaining a clean and sustainable neighbourhood.

  • Waste Audit

A continued detailed waste audit was carried out to assess the quality of segregation and identify gaps in collection practices.

Veeraru

This month, we supported students by providing them with presentation charts as they prepare for an upcoming Sustainability Fest at the school. The event will be presented in front of teachers and parents and will include activities such as a drama on sustainability and music performances. While it resembles an annual day celebration, the theme is centered on environmental awareness and sustainable living. As part of the preparation, students were also guided on waste segregation and sustainable waste practices.

Additionally, on 25th, 26th, and 27th, we attended a CII session on Certified Waste Management Rules and Amendments to better understand recent policy developments. The sessions provided insights into the updated Swachh Bharat Mission guidelines and the new SBM rules for 2026, helping us strengthen our understanding of waste management regulations and how they can be implemented effectively in community initiatives.

Project Repurpose 2.0

We, in partnership with OSB India, officially launched Project Repurpose 2.0 and started the drives from october every alternate sunday. Till last month we had conducted 6 drives and collected over 3,100 bulky waste. The drive marked the beginning of a renewed collaboration focused on sustainable waste management, textile upcycling, and corporate engagement.

Here is the updated table of this months drive — clearly stating that all old clothes and the listed materials were collected to prevent piling up at home and instead donated for upcycling and repurposing:

On 7th February in HSR Layout, the team conducted a respectful Udvashne Puja for the old holy photos and idol pictures of deities that had been collected during our drive. After performing the puja, the photos were carefully dismantled and handled in a dignified manner. This initiative ensured that the sacred items were disposed of respectfully while also promoting responsible waste management practices within the community.

Namma Swaccha Madiwala

Happiest Minds, concerned about persistent cleanliness challenges in the Madiwala Market region, approached Let’s Be The Change (LBTC) seeking a structured and sustainable waste-management solution under their CSR initiative. In response, LBTC launched “Namma Swaccha Madiwala,” a 6-month pilot programme focused on transforming waste handling practices in the area.

A core team meeting was held to review ongoing activities and ensure smooth progress of upcoming implementations. During the discussion, the placement of waste bins was finalized, and flower vendors were instructed to clear the designated space by 8:30 AM each day to facilitate proper installation and accessibility. During this month 10 new dustbins were installed.

Erudition Time:

Starting April 1, the Solid Waste Management (SWM) initiative will be formally implemented to strengthen waste segregation, streamline collection systems, and improve overall cleanliness in the community. The initiative will focus on proper bin placement, monitoring segregation at source, awareness among vendors and residents, and structured tracking of waste movement.

This marks a significant step towards building a more accountable and sustainable waste management system, ensuring long-term environmental impact and community participation.
